4th "juliana trail" weekend
12.4. - 14.4.2024
In short, we have decided to "pack" all three "Bohinj" stages of Juliana (6. , 7. & 8.) into a two-night package. We will sleep in the Hostel pod Voglom right by the lake, and from there, walk all around. We will explore Bohinj a little differently and even touch the highest point of our Juliana - Baško sedlo.
Here's a quick overview of our three stages so you know what's coming up.
FRIDAY STAGE 7
The shorter stage leads from Stara Fužina through Ribčev Laz by Lake Bohinj along macadam roads and paths over the scenic Dobrava to Bohinjska Bistrica, the administrative centre of Bohinj.

Walking time: 2h:30min
Ascent: 105 m
Descent: 149 m
Saturday Stage 6
The stage first passes through the forests and mountains of Pokljuka, then descends to the villages of Gorjuše and Koprivnik, and from there to Jereka in the Upper Bohinj Valley. From there, the trail passes through the villages of Češnjica, Srednja vas and Studor to Staro Fužina.

Descent: 1048 m
Sunday's 8th stage
The stage from Bohinjska Bistrica to Podbrdo takes us over the ancient Vrh Bače pass, which connected Bohinj and Primorska for centuries before the advent of roads and railways.

Ascent: 770 m

CAN YOU DO IT? If yes, here's your programme!
That's roughly what our relaxingly busy weekend will look like. We'll be adjusting as we go along, simply because of the weather or some unexpected obstacle along the way. In any case, we will not be in a hurry. We will take time to enjoy the beautiful views along the way, to warm up in the morning and to stretch in the afternoon after we have finished walking.
Friday
14:00 > Meeting at the Hostel pod Vogl, where we will get to know each other
14:30 > Transfer to Stara Fužina, and start of the 7th stage of the Julian Trail
19:00 > Dinner
Saturday
7:30 > Breakfast
8:30 > Transfer to Pokljuka and start walking the 6th stage of the Julian Trail
Brunch in your backpack
16:30 > Transfer from Stara Fužina to the Hostel
19:00 > Dinner
Sunday
7:30 > Breakfast
8:30 > Transfer to Bohinjska Bistrica and from there we start our "grande finale" stage
We return to the starting point by train through the Bohinj tunnel
13:00 > Transfer back to the Hostel
14:00 > Departure home

Need to know!
The weekend will only be organised if more than 4 people register, if less you are still welcome to join us at the Hostel pod Voglom
In case of bad weather, the "Juliana Weekend" will be cancelled or postponed. Walking in the rain has its charm, but without the views it's not really Juliana.
We walk at our own risk. A mountain guide will be with you.
