New hiking trail - Juliana Trail
The beauty of the Julian Alps surpasses even the well-known names of the Alpine region, which stretches across eight central and southern European countries. To hike the Julian peaks and see the distant views from the sea to the Dolomites and the main Alpine ridge is certainly an immense experience. But you don't need to hike the sharp peaks of two-thousanders, nor do you need to be an alpinist to have another equally incredible experience. You may be afraid of heights, but you still want to admire the white limestone mountains that rose from the primeval sea above our fields.
This incredible experience is a trail, a path that leads through the valleys of this beautiful mountain group with the charming Jalovec, the queenly Škrlatica, and the magnificent Triglav. Our most beautiful rivers will accompany you through the valleys. Along the Sava dolinka, Sava Bohinjka, Bača, Soča, Jezernica and even the Idrijca, you will never be too hot and the occasional climbs will be easier to manage when you refresh yourself in the crystal clear waters on the descent. Along the way, the mountain ridges will reflect off the many shimmering lakes, creating inspiring photogenic moments you'll never forget.
But not to dwell on the natural wonders, the route reminds us of the area's rich history. The area is steeped in incredible stories, which you'll discover in the many museums and memorials along the way, from the iron industry, to pastoralism, to trade and, last but not least, to the event that best marked the area, the First World War.
There are two full stages of this circular hiking trail through Bohinj, and one half stage, when we meet our Primorje counterparts at Baška sedlo. Here are some technical details about the route itself, and we invite you to visit Bohinj and the Julian Alps and walk at least one stage. We promise you an unforgettable experience. If nothing else, we always have some weather surprises in these parts.
The Hostel pod Voglom is located just under a kilometre along the trail, right in the middle of the Bohinj section of the trail, making it an ideal starting point. Our receptionists and guides will provide you with all the information you need to have as much fun and learn as possible along the way, and to ensure that the hike itself is safe. And we'll come looking for you if the weather should turn bad.
